Bobby Hill

As part of our ongoing spotlight series, meet Bobby.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day can vary a lot depending on the projects I am working on. We get a really nice mix of projects. My ideal day would be working on a product or app design, I love the UX complexity that these types of projects bring.

How did you get into design?

The first time I got hands on with design was in high school in my IT class. We had to create a real estate agent’s brand identity and some brand collateral. I realised I had talent in this area and really enjoyed it.  After this I set my sights on going to college and then university to study design. 

What’s the best thing about working with Athlon?

I would definitely say the culture, it’s a team of lovely people who genuinely care for each other’s well-being.

What inspires you?

I get inspired by many different things, including searching for design references and listening to design-related podcasts.

Career highlight so far

It would be the Gold BIMA award we won at Athlon for our design work on the E1 Series, the all electric international offshore powerboat racing championship. I was the senior designer on the project, so it was great to see the work I had been a big part of get such amazing recognition.

What do you geek out on?

I geek out on music. I am a Dj as a hobby/side hustle, I love collecting music and organising it into playlists to play in my sets.

What do you get up to when you’re not plugged in?

I love to travel, I want to see as much of the world as I can! I also love to watch films and tv series. Once upon a time I was a chef so I like to get in the kitchen and cook something nice. Oh and of course, I don’t mind a cheeky pint and a laugh in the pub with friends!

If you could have a superpower, what would it be & why?

It would be to teleport, I could travel anywhere I like whenever I liked!
